WORKSHOP: Discover Owls
August 12, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
£29
Discover the fascinating world of owls. What makes owls unique from other birds? What species of owl live around the world and here in the UK? How do they hunt silently in darkness? Find out the answers to these, and many other questions in our afternoon workshop. View zoological specimens; a pre 1940s taxidermy Little Owl, and feathers and a skull from a Barn Owl. Then get stuck into dissecting an owl pellet from a wild Barn Own. Pellets are regurgitated material within which can be found the bones of the owls prey. Use keys to identify these bones and workout which species are important food for owls. The information you deduct will contribute to an ongoing behavioural study of owls.
